Helpful Hints For All Your Indoor Comfort Needs

What our customers ask us about system maintenance...

How often should I change my filters? What effects do dirty components have on my system?
  • Filters should be changed every 3 to 6 months because dirt blocks heat transfer and air flow, which causes or contributes to all or some of the following:
  • Compressor and/or fan motors have to work harder, lubrication breaks down, and unit life is shortened.
  • Heating and cooling capacity is reduced, increasing operating costs.
  • Compressor valces can be damaged due to refrigerant (freon) floodback.
  • Coil can ice over, stopping all cooling and possibly causing damage from a condensate water leak.
  • What else can I do to maintain my system?
  • Hosing your outdoor coil before the summer season to dislodge the dirt and leaves that have collected over the winter can contribute to better efficiency during summer usage.
  • How often should my system be cleaned professionally?
  • Location, running time, and type of system you have all effect how often your system will need cleaning. However, no matter how conscientiously you change your filters, your system should be checked and/or cleaned at least once or twice each year.
  • What is the best way to get this maintenance done?
  • You can keep a schedule and call us periodically to perform maintenance. You will pay our regular reasonable rates at that time unless we are running a special.
  • OR
  • You can become one of our preferred service agreement customers. This will guarantee savings in operating cost due to a clean system.
